What Happened
Minth Group announced a nearly $300 million investment in Windsor for the first phase of a multi building manufacturing campus on approximately 54 acres of Windsor International Airport land. The initial facility is approximately 379,415 square feet and is expected to create 1,099 direct jobs. A second approximately 150,000 square foot facility was later announced through a joint venture with AISIN.
- ~$300M initial investment.
- 379,415 sq. ft. phase one facility.
- 1,099 expected direct jobs.
- ~54 acre airport campus.
Investment Impact
Minth is useful to understand alongside NextStar rather than in isolation. NextStar represents a major battery manufacturing anchor; Minth represents additional supplier investment locating in Windsor and expanding the regional automotive and advanced manufacturing ecosystem.
Jeremy’s Take
What interests me here is the supplier side of the story. A major anchor investment is important, but I'm also watching whether other manufacturers choose Windsor and build operations around the broader automotive and battery ecosystem. Minth is one example of that happening.
Things to Watch
Construction and operational milestones, hiring versus projected employment, future phases of the campus and additional supplier investment around Windsor Airport.
